  2. Day 2 Visit Kathmandu City, Swayambhunath and Patan

Today the Kathmandu Valley Tour begins! We first visit Swayambhunath which is also known as the monkey temple. It has a golden spire dating back to the 5th century. A buddhist temple with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind, Swayambhunath is a beautiful site. There are also lots of monkeys roaming around so remember to keep your belongings close to hand.

Climbing to the top of the temple, you get great views over Kathmandu Valley so it is good to remember a camera. After this, we climb down and grab a delicious lunch. Once lunch is complete, we continue the tour to Durbar Square. This is one of three royal squares in Kathmandu Valley. It is close to Hanuman Dhoka Palace which is worth a visit. The five acre palace complex is divided into two main parts and great to explore.

After this, we head onwards to Patan which is a 15 minute drive away. Patan is in Lalitpur and the beauty of the site is split by Bagmati River. Krishna Mandir is one of the grandest monuments in the square. This was built in 1637 by King Siddhinarsingh Malla. It is made completely of stone. The beauty is hard to describe and you need to see it with your own eyes!

This concludes the first day of the tour, we retreat back to the hotel and enjoy a fantastic dinner.

  3. Day 3 Visit Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath

Time for some more sightseeing! In the morning we head to Pashupatinath to visit one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Nepal. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. Pashupatinath is part of a world heritage site set by the banks of the Bagmati River. It dates back to the 16th century.

After finishing our tour of Pashupatinath, we head to Bouddhanath. Bouddhanath is one of the largest stupas in South Asia. It is commonly referred to as little Tibet. It is the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal and great to experience and take some photos. Once the tour of Bouddhanath is complete, we move onto lunch.

In the afternoon, we head to Bhaktapur City. Here you can see another famous square. There is a combination of pagodas and shikhara style architecture. We will visit Changunayan temple and the Golden Gate. The local delicacy of Bhaktapur curd can be tried. It is the best and tastiest curd you can find in Nepal!

The day concludes back at the hotel. Any last minute shopping for souvenirs can be done in Kathmandu before we head for a celebration dinner for your last night.

  4. Day 4 Departure from Kathmandu

We will be sad to see you go but will make all the arrangements for a transfer back to the airport. We hope you have had a great time experiencing the history and culture of Kathmandu and look forward to seeing you again in the country.
